STILL LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography has always been my way to slow down and be still, hence my love of still life photography. I enjoy the contemplative nature of the genre, a mindful process that allows me to be present and aware of life’s beautiful imperfections that might otherwise go unnoticed; the texture of a faded bloom, the way the light falls across a weathered leaf, or the patina of a well loved vase.

Guided by the flowers and foliage, their form and size and with the use of natural light to shape the shadows within the arrangement not only do I hope to create work with a painterly quality, reminiscent of the still life painters of the Dutch Golden Age but also work which I hope will create a feeling of sentiment, memories and nostalgia for the viewer.
